Making UTAU Voicebanks with inanimate sounds (EN)

I'm writing using a translator. There could be a lot of mistranslation.

Before going into the guide, there are a few things you need to prepare. I know that mac does not work, so mac users should use programs such as Parallels.

Program Setting

1. Audacity (You have to install the 32-bit version to make the plugin work normally.)

If you have downloaded both programs, please insert the Vocalizer.dll file in the plugin folder within the Audacity program folder.

If you run the Audacity program, you can see that Vocalizer has been added to the effect column. This is the end of the program setting, and please bring whatever sound you want.

Principle of pronunciation of Inanimate UTAU

Basically, the core of the pronunciation of Inanimate UTAU is the vowel. There are a, e, i, o, u, and additionally n(Japanese consonants), which is the consonant ending. Double vowels such as ya and wa occur from a, e, i, o, u, and if you add consonants naturally in front of them, UTAU can pronounce them.
To tell you in advance, this guide is based on the production of a Japanese voice bank, so it's hard to answer if you ask me about how to make pronunciation of English or Chinese...! I only make Japanese voicebanks.

The pronunciation of 'ka' is made by adding a 'k' consonant before the vowel of 'a', and the pronunciation of 'ka' is made by adding a 'k' consonant before the double vowel 'ya' made by combining 'i' and 'a'.

Making Vowel pronunciations

First, bring the sound you want to Audacity. First of all, I'll explain it using the sound source from 'KINE', the voice bank I made before. I recorded the sound myself, and if it's difficult to record the sound myself, you can process the copyright-free sound source.

Now, I'm going to make a sound by cutting it into very small pieces and repeating it a lot.

You can zoom in to Ctrl+scroll. Now you can drag it from the bar above to set the range where the sound repeats, which is called the looping. With looping enabled, press the space bar to hear the sound in advance.

If you think the sound is too high at this time (when a male voice bank makes a low tone female voice bank, but please adjust it because the sound range is basically very high), please activate the pitch change function at the top > pitch and tempo.

In the plugin window, move the bottom bar to process the sound until you get the desired range. You can also check how low and high the sound goes through the preview button at the bottom. This process can be applied after you have created vowels, so adjust the pitch until you hear the voice you want. You don't have to control it too carefully!

Now I'm going to make vowel pronunciation with this. Through the Vocalizer I installed earlier! Please select Vocalizer in the effect column.

The Male 01/Female01 option at the top allows you to adjust the huskyness of your voicebank. You can create a sound similar to each pronunciation by shifting the dots closer to the vertices of each pronunciation. If you can't hear the correct pronunciation after applying it once, you can apply it multiple times. In the process of making vowel pronunciation, the sound can become too loud or too low, and I'll explain this later, so please make your pronunciation easier for now.

I'll give you an example of the pronunciation of my voice bank that's been processed.

Now you have to make an n pronunciation, but the way to make an n pronunciation is simple. You can make it easy by making u pronunciation first and adjusting the EQ value. If you choose Effect > EQ and Filter > Filter Curve Equalizer, and EQ similar to the attached one, it sounds similar to the n pronunciation.

Oh, and it's about volume, and you can adjust the sound of all vowels to a consistent degree with the option Effect > Volume and Compression > Volume Normalization. You can select all tracks with Ctrl+A and then hang it.

Oh, when you export vowel pronunciation, you must set the sample rate to 44100 to make the sound properly.

Making Consonants

Actually, there's nothing really like a guide, you just have to cut some of it from the sound and make it sound like a certain pronunciation. But this was really hard for me when I first made Inanimate UTAU. But... in the Korean UTAU community, a tool has been developed to create Inanimate UTAU by simply making vowels! You can buy it for about 6,000 won in Korean money, so I'll leave a link.

여성, 183cm, 마른 체형. 무표정일 때 험악한 인상.

상당한 주당. 엔마의 영향을 받았을지도 모르겠다. 혼자 양주 4병을 비울 정도로 고약한 술쟁이다. 술에 취하지 않으면 텐션이 가라앉는다며 일을 할 때에도 술을 챙겨 다니는 미친 여자. 그만큼 술이 강하기 때문에 술 때문에 일적인 부분에서 실수하는 비중은 없다시피 하다... 만, 주변에 술을 다소 강요하는 면이 없지 않아 있다.

엔마와 많이 친해 보인다. 둘 다 술을 즐기는 것도 있고 나름 티키타카가 잘 된다(일방적으로 카나타가 친한 척을 하는 것으로 보일 때도 있다... 적당히 미친 여자는 아니다.).

무덤덤하지만 동시에 쾌활한 구석이 있다. 뭘 말해도 대충 납득한다. 하는 짓만 보면 거실에서 배 벅벅 긁고 있는 삼촌 이미지에 가깝다. 술 밝히고, 여자 끼고(자신도 여자지만) 술 마시러 다니고(당연히 사심은 없다. 그냥 술 마시는 게 즐겁다...)... 자주 세세한 구석도 깜빡깜빡하고, 노답 인생 사는 것처럼 보이지만 경력이 있어서인지 일은 정말 잘 처리한다. 자신 빼고 놀러 가도 어 놀러 갔었어? 재밌었겠네~ 한다. 인간관계에 관심없어 보여도 타고난 성격이 괜찮아서 주변에 사람이 많은 편. 정작 본인은 사람들 이름도 모른다.

의료와 화학에 대한 지식이 조금 있다. 당연하게도 사람을 살리는 데보다는 죽이는 데에 치중되어 있다. 원거리에서 쇠뇌를 사용해 독이 묻은 화살을 쏘는 방식으로 일을 처리하고 있다. 의학 지식도 독을 만들며 취득한 것으로, 카나타가 만든 독극물이 몸에 퍼지면 심한 오한과 함께 체온이 급격히 하락해 저체온증으로 죽는다. 신참 시절 쇠뇌를 다루는 실력이 부족해서 독을 구하다가, 술값으로 쓸 돈이 독값으로 빠져나가는 게 짜증이 나서(...) 직접 만들기 시작했다. 거의 맨 땅에 헤딩하듯 만들었지만 일단 잘 작동하니 상관없다.
